Avery Dare had her heart broken when Grey Kingston suddenly up and left her behind to pursue his dream. Grey wanted to become a famous rocker with the band Tangled Royal and make plenty of money so he could buy anything he wanted. Not having much growing up this was tops on his list. Being so handsome he could have any woman he wanted.
It is years later and Grey has come to the realization that sure money can buy you lots of material things it doesn't buy happiness. Having any woman doesn't make you happy when all you can still think about is the one you left behind.
He decides it is time to leave this world and go back home to the real word. He wants to see if the sparks are still there with Avery and try like heck to win her trust and get her back. But not everyone wants him gone from the limelight...not his manager and not his fans.
Once Avery sees Grey again she knows those feelings are still there. But neither of them are the same person they were years ago. Due to her family troubles in the past she is subject to anxiety attacks. She also has three brothers who are very over protective. Moving forward with Grey can be complicated.
You will certainly enjoy this book in the Dare To Love series. Once I had started it I couldn't put it down until I had read the last page. Looking forward to the next in this series.
Loved it! My favorite Dare story yet. We've had hints and glimpses of Avery and Grey's story throughout the series and I am so glad it lived up to expectations. Definitely a book I recommend.
Finally, Avery and Grey's story. I've been waiting for this forever. And it did not disappoint!! While all of Carly's Dare Series books are written with deep emotion, this one stood out to me. It's filled with such sweet and sometimes emotional turmoil I couldn't put it down.
Avery is the fashionista of the Dare siblings. Preferring to do her job behind a blog due to her being an introvert and the panic attacks brought on by crowds. She's strong to a point, but full of second guessing herself with her feeling of self doubt. Until Grey comes back into her life. Showing her that she's worth everything and more.
Grey is your book boyfriend come to life. He's a famous rocker who has come to a point in his life where he feels he's missing something. Avery. After a life decision, he's back Miami for good. He's adventurous but also so sweet. Trying to make up for the things he feels he's done wrong when he was younger. One of which is his family and the girl he left behind to pursue his career.
This is a sweet and hot read. Grey puts himself out there to show Avery that's he's ready for the biggest commitment of his life. Winning her over with romance. Avery, on the other hand, is only taking what she can get from Grey. She's sure he will soon become tired of the settling down life he thinks he needs. Can these two make it with their second chance? If you've read all the other Dare books, you can't miss this one.
With each new addition to the series, Carly makes you feel as though you're part of this, for a lack of a better word, dysfunctional family. Make sure you one-click this one.
I have enjoyed each of the books in the Dare series thus far. Each one provides a unique set of characters and interesting challenge(s) they must overcome as a couple to secure a happily ever after for themselves.
In this respect, Avery Dare and Grey Kingston were no different. Avery and Grey were high school sweethearts whose hearts called to like. Grey and Avery were loners -- both for very different reasons -- but that similarity is what connected them to one another. Grey was a musician and a dreamer. He was just waiting for the day he could leave his working class family (mother and stepfather) who he was actually ashamed of, and make a name for himself in the music world. He wanted to prove to his father, whom he had a very strained relationship with before he died, that he could in fact "be somebody." Although Grey's father didn't live to see his success, he achieved it and in a very big way. Unfortunately, his quest to outrun hid personal demons also caused him to run away from Avery in the process. He left her...COLD...and never have her the chance on the choice to come along with him in his climb to the top. And, it tore Avery up. Already having extreme abandonment issues due to her father's selfishness, Avery was heartbroken and closed herself off to serious relationships. But time does not dull the light of love. Grey was still very much in love with Avery and he wanted her back. Only the adult Avery was more guarded and careful with her affections. But Grey was intent on having his girl back -- mind, body, and soul. However, things are never easy in the journey to happily ever after. Grey's swarmy record producer and a seriously crazy stalker almost thew a permanent wrench in Grey's plans to permanently reconcile with Avery. Fortunately for him, the adult Avery was also willing to fight for what she wanted, that is once she finally made up her mind about it.
I absolutely adored Avery. She was actually one of the most muted Dare's in all the other Dare books. Sure, she had presence because she was the one who saved her half-sibling, Sienna's life by donating bone marrow when she was a child. We also knew that there was a story between her and the sexy rocker, yet she didn't stand out UNTIL THIS BOOK! Phillips did an exceptional job crafting a character that would tug on your heart strings and make you cheer for her, especially when you read her interactions with her father. It broke my heart for her. But, I love how she confronted him when she found her strength, or rather tapped into her strength. Although plagued by frequent panic attacks, Avery was stronger than she knew and it only took Grey's presence in her life to nudge that strength to the forefront.
This book is definitely a Book Chick favorite!
Carly Phillips never disappoints. Another great book by a great author. Avery and Grey's love story was so sweet. First loves always hold a special place in your heart. Loved this book. A must read rock star romance.
