I started reading the Psychic Eye mystery series when I was looking for something to read after the Charlie Davidson series by Darynda Jones. That series reminded me so much of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, with its humor, romance, and threw in the added element of the grim reaper. Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye series follows along the same lines of both of those, without as much humor or romance, but with more supernatural and mystery thrown in. I like Abby Cooper's psychic abilities and how she uses them to help solve police and FBI cases. I wish there was more passion and romance between Abby and Dutch. When they finally have a romantic night together, the reader isn't privy to any details. I don't need graphic details as in so many books these days, but Darynda Jones really makes you feel the chemistry and heat between Charlie and Reyes, and she doesn't have to get too graphic. That said, I like this series enough that I will certainly continue to read them all!Product details

Abby Cooper, psychic intuitive is back along with her hunkie boyfried Dutch, sweetie Milo, crazy Cat, and her darling pooch Eggy. Cat, Abby, and Abby's handyman Dave go into business together to rehab an old house and sell it for big bucks. Dave goes in, finds a very nasty ghost, and refuses to go back. Abby has to find out why the house is haunted, and solve the mystery involved with this house. This book is very funny, especialy the parts involving Abby's sister Cat and her difficulties with the parents. The sexual tension between Abby and Dutch just grows and grows, and they find themselves frustrated at every turn. It is a great book. I have read it x 2 now and enjoyed it tremendously each time. Victoria Laurie has three books now in print. Go buy them all, sit back with a snack or two, and enjoy many fun hours of reading.
Victoria Laurie had an idea for a series of novels that is unique - not only do we meet an excellent psychic, Abby Cooper, we see the woman and her responsibilities and integrity. She has a life away from the office, with a hunk of a boyfriend Dutch, a handy man, Dave, a wildly funny sister, Cat, a cute pooch Eggy. This series also shows the layperson what a psychic goes through and the consequenses of their words. While this series has it all - mystery, adventure, romance, paranormal, Ms. Laurie educates us regarding the world of the paranormal - what is a psychic, medium, 'ghostbuster', ectoplasm. And she does it with a light touch that doesn't get in the way of the story - Also the story takes place in an area of Michigan I used to live in so it makes it more special -
This series is hitting its stride and Ms. Laurie has quite a following. If you like the books, as I do, go to her website - she is a gifted psychic and I am impressed not only by her gift, but how very nice she is.

As an aside, those who have written telling me your paranormal experiences - I have tried to email back but do not know if I did the contacts correctly - I would enjoy talking to kindred spirits - so don't think I have not tried to reply -
Again, A Vision of Murder is full of everything you look for in a book - and as a great fan cannot recommend it enough.
Have been buying one at a time to get the full series! Hard to pull myself away from these books. Eventually want to start reading Victoria Laurie's Ghoul books too! I'm not even a book reader normally, now have found that reading these get my mind off of all the chatter racing through my little brain too!
Abby Cooper has become my favorite amateur PI. The premise of this series, a young woman private detective who has strong psychic abilities which she uses to solve cases, is original and fun to read. Abby is a psychic, but she also has the same trials and tribulations of a normal young woman, money, sibling and romance issues. In this latest book, Abby, her sister Cat, and Abby's handyman Dave, buy and plan to renovate a house, only the house turns out to be haunted! Poor Dave, Abbey's partner and handyman, is attacked by his own chainsaw as he begins the renovation! Determined to find out what's going on, Abby begins investigating the history of the home and discovers a missing treasure with ties to WWII Nazi Germany. In order to solve the mystery, Abby depends on her spirit guides to help her on the case. There is danger for Abby and her friends from an unknown stalker and the romance between Abby and Dutch becomes more intense as they each must sacrifice some of their independence to become a real couple. Ms. Laurie has a great series going here, and I look forward to reading more Abby mysteries.
I got this book just in time for Christmas last year. I don't know why I've taken so long to write reviews for the series but here we are!
Pros Abby Cooper #3 is funny, witty and has well written , solid characters. I find myself consuming these cozy mysteries quickly. I would recommend these books to anyone who is into Female detectives with a side of supernatural suspense. Not wanting to spoil anything for anyone reading these reviews but I will say that this book spooked me a little...It was all wrapped up in a warm ending that made me smile. Well done Mrs. Laurie!
Cons Abby...is still whining a lot when things don't go "her" way. Instead of taking things in stride and making Lemonaide out of lifes lemons , she cries, throws tantrums ( well, theyre tantrums in my opinion at least) and whines. If Mrs. Laurie happens to read any of these reviews , I would like to see my favorite professional psychic be more emotionally mature about the problems that come her way. It irritates a little when you read a book series yet the main character doesnt evolve much emotionally. Ah well, rant over.
I still gave this book 5 stars because despite Abbys short comings its well written and fun and easy to read. I feel like I got what I paid for in that aspect )
